 This Saturday, KT Miniatures will be attending the Haddenham Dolls House & Miniatures Exhibition. I will have a 6ft stand filled with a selection of my handmade and antique/vintage miniatures. In the photos above and below, is a taster of just a few of the handmade and antique/vintage items I will be taking. 

 

Due to limited space I will not have any dolls houses for sale with me this time - sorry.  But as always, there should be one or two "Bargain Boxes" filled with an assortment of random old pieces for you to rummage through. Plus I will have some of Marion Osborne's books for sale (all three titles), but they will be behind my stand due to lack of table display space so please just ask if you come, are wanting to buy one of them but can't see them anywhere!

Between Robin of Coombe Crafts (my workshop colleague) and KT Miniatures stands, we will have an additional table of some of our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshop projects on display. Plus one or two of our old project prototypes will be available to purchase, as both Robin and I are rapidly running out of storage space and simply cannot keep them all. We shall also be putting up for sale our "Let's Go Camping Scene" that was featured in Dolls House & Miniature Scene magazine earlier this year. 

Several dolls house clubs from the surrounding area as well as individuals will be exhibiting their creations. There will also be some artisan/trader stands, so you will have an opportunity to do a bit of miniature shopping too.This delightful biannual event has been run for many years by Freda & George Dorrell  but they have finally decided to retire from organising. Thankfully though, Felicity & Ron Holland (organisers of the Thame Dolls House & Miniatures Fair) have agreed to take it on and keep it going.  

  

The Haddenham event gives miniaturist enthusiasts a unique opportunity to see the creations of some of the many very talented club miniaturists and individuals who would not normally exhibit their work. You will be able to peruse their inspirational creations at your leisure and members will be on hand to chat to you. The two chosen charities this year will be Hearing Dogs For Deaf People & Thames Valley Air Ambulance. 

Haddenham is just less than 2 miles from Thame and a few miles from Aylesbury, close to Junctions 6 & 8a of the M40, has its own Chiltern Line mainline station (Haddenham & Thame Parkway) with direct routes from Birmingham and London Marylebone.

A Touch Of Website Housekeeping Plus Dol-Toi Galore!

 Over the past couple of days or so, I've been undertaking a little bit of tidying up on my website, which hopefully now will make the antique and vintage section a little easier to use.  

I've done away with the long list of text links to various named vintage manufacturers on the Antique & Vintage Index Page and replaced with named image thumbnail links instead. You will find these directly underneath the old dolls house image that has separate click on thumbnail links for each room. This new additional section should be more pleasing on the eye and hopefully less confusing! Within this section, I have also incorporated the Old Dolls House Dolls link too (originally this was along the top navigation bar)....in order to contain most of the old items all in one section.

Similarly, I have had a bash at tidying up my Home Page too....it is now less busy and hopefully more straightforward.

DOL-TOI GALORE!

Also, over the past few days, I have been delving back into the several remaining boxes of old Dol-Toi belonging to Marion Osborne and begun listing many of these items in earnest, there is still quite a bit left!Over the past couple of years or so, I have had the enviable task of selling Marion's Dol-Toi Collection on her behalf, which she amassed purely for research purposes for her Book Of Dol-Toi.

 

 

 I've just completed listing lots more Dol-Toi for the living room section, and at the moment am having a bash at the kitchen items. Unsellable damaged Dol-Toi items, with Marion's permission, are being bagged up and put aside for the Breast Cancer Now Sales Table at Thame Dolls House & Miniatures Fair in February 2016) as they could be useful to someone. The listing of such a large volume of Dol-Toi items up to the website all in one go is extremely time consuming, and just for the moment I will have to be put this latest  Dol-Toi listing session on ice whilst I concentrate on some other KT Miniaturs duties. But I hope to get back to the listing of Dol-Toi kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom items in a few days time.

Just Some Of The Unusual Antique Kitchen Miniatures Now Available For Purchase On KT Miniatures...

Over the past couple of days or so, I have been busy listing various antique and vintage pieces up to several pages on KT Miniatures website, all now available to purchase.

Today I will highlight some of the new additions just recently added to the Antique & Vintage Kitchen Page

c1930s Huntley & Palmers Biscuit Tin Sample

Ok...I know that this tin is large scale, measuring 1 1/2" wide and deep plus 1 3/4" high, but it would look fantastic in an antique dolls house kitchen, that is either large scale or where scale does not matter. This is completely in original condition and the lid can lift off. I love it!

Rare c1908 - 1932 REKA Metal Cooking Pot With Lid

 

Now this is a first for KT Miniatures....I have handled one or two other REKA items before  but never a cooking pot with the original lid would you believe! These REKA pieces are becoming increasingly rare these days so it is nice to have one on offer today!

The pot is a lovely shade of blue and the removable lid is metal colour. The name REKA is embossed underneath the pot. As with the sample tin above, this is also large scale measuring 1 1/2" high but would suit a larger dolls house kitchen or an old dolls house where scale doesn't matter.

Late 1800s/Early 1900s German Plaster Lobster & Fluted Tin

Isn't he fabulous!!?

Ok, the old plaster lobster may have a few nibbles from his sides, but he is still rather lovely. These plaster dolls house items  are so fragile in young hands but this one has managed to survive being passed down through three entire generations of the same family of young ladies and he is still here to tell the tale! 

He came with the old fluted tin so am keeping them together.  I love his eyes - he has such character! And the patina of the original colouring is just lovely. Mr Lobster measures just under 2" long...so quite big. 

Pair Of Antique Aluminium French Saucepans

These saucepans came with the same items as shown above. 

Underneath each pan it states MADE IN FRANCE. 
As you can see in this photo, embossed inside each base is the following: "GUARANTEED THICKNESS OF OUR PATENTED SERIES BOR.  WEIGHT AT LEAST 42/5 lbs".

  I am assuming that these French saucepans  are possibly tradesmans samples,  advertising the company BOR?

These are just a tiny selection of  several old miniature treasures that have gone up for sale over the past 2 days.

A Little Bit About Our Workshops On The Dolls Houses Past & Present Magazine September Issue!

If you have never viewed The Dolls' Houses Past & Present website before but are very much into dolls houses...then I can highly recommend you taking a look.

It is a website filled with information all about dolls houses, mainly antique and vintage but some more modern ones as well. You will find pages and pages of amazing photos within the "Galleries",  a "What's On" section, a lively "Forum" and various other sections too - all relating to dolls houses in some way.  Plus there is a delightful online quarterly magazine edited by the extremely knowledgeable and inspirational owner of the website - Rebecca Green. 

The latest issue is available to view now (September 2015) and am delighted to say that amongst some wonderful features such as the tale of a family dolls house that has been passed down several generations and a personal report describing a visit to the Small Worlds Museum in the Czech Republic, Rebecca has kindly included a feature all about our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops.
