New Look To KT Miniatures Journal

If you just happened to be visiting KT Miniatures yesterday afternoon, you may have been wondering why the background on here was changing to all sorts of weird combinations!

Yes it was me, I was the culprit...I had decided to pluck up the courage and fiddle with the background theme. Even though I have had this blog for years now, the blogspot's controls have been changed in recent times and to be honest, it has been trial and error working my way through all the glitches. After much perusing of the internet to find out how others were managing with it, I finally discovered one or two things.

So here we are...and after scouring my old files, I came across an image of some antique wallpaper that I used to sell on KT Miniatures and which I absolutely loved. I kept the pale grey background and simply lifted the white flower to create this background image.  Am quite pleased with the results and hope you like it too.

Thanks Robin. I wish I was more technologically minded though...what I don't understand is when I view a post in "preview", the background shows dozens of multiple rows of tiny flowers? Celia

The wallpaper is pretty, Celia.
While you're changing things around there are two things you can look at -
Read up about the ideal column width and total width of your blog page. I see huge grey borders on the sides with a narrow column of text in the middle. This is probably because you haven't changed your settings in yonks. I think these days you can set it on automatic so the blog displays well on whatever device the reader is using.
When you post images, you can click on the image and select whether it should display as small, medium, or large. Your images are small by default, which means they display the size of a postage stamp. While one can click on them to enlarge, it would make your blog much more attractive if the images are big and clear from the outset.
I hope you don't mind my unsolicited advice. You can also just ignore me. I love your blog!

It's lovely. I would like to change my blog but I'm scared that I might mess it up and not know how to go back! I have a practise blog but I don't always understand what to do!

Thank you Polly - and I am with you there. It certainly took me a while to pluck up the courage and have a go at changing this background. I think the key is not to save any changes until you are absolutely sure that you are happy with it? Although I was freaking out a bit when I pressed that "save" button.

Megan - I am more than happy for any advice where technology is concerned and thank you for your comments. But oh dear, am baffled now though as how you describe the appearance of my blog ie. large borders either side of small column in middle, is not how I am seeing it on my laptop, or on my smart phone. Do you mind me asking what device you are viewing this on or what browser you are using? I tend to mostly use Google Chrome. I always set my photos to large on any blog, so am baffled as to why you are seeing them small? Hmm...I may need to do some more Googling to see if I can sort this out. Celia

Dear Celia
I loved your blog post about the Wrights! And those photos displayed the full width of the column, nice and big, so you're definitely doing something right. Photo size can also have something to do with resolution, maybe sometimes your photos just don't have a high enough resolution to display in a bigger size. There are so many things one needs to know... and I'm by no means an expert!
I'm reading your blog on my desktop computer with a nice big screen and my browser is Firefox. My own Blogger blog displays correctly on my computer and I've tested it on mobile and two laptops, I do hope it displays correctly for people using other devices and browsers, you have me worried now.

Hi Megan. I took your advice and did seek out information on how to adjust the width of columns, etc. So it was with some trepidation that I did some further tweaking yesterday to adjust widths. So far from feedback I have had, it seems that the centre column on my blog has certainly widened, it may be that I will have to do some more tweaking but we shall see. So thank you again, your advice and help has certainly helped. Glad you liked the article - there is a lot more to come in part two:) Celia
