A Little Bit Of This And That....Plus A Little 1930s Pram!

Not sure where the time has gone this week...much of what was planned for KT Miniatures simply went out of the window as other unscheduled events took over...story of my life. Don't know about anyone else, but I have to make a list every morning on what I need to do. Very seldom do I complete that list! Plus there have been one or two annoying little hiccups this week out of my control which should not have happened and I now have to rely on others to put those annoyances right. One being a bit of a tangle with those lovely people down at the Royal Mail. Let's hope they find that lost parcel!!!

Sunday's Workshop.....

1/12th Scale Underneath The Old Arbour Prototype
However, in between everything that has been going on this week we've been able to put final touches to our kits for Sunday's workshop at Waterperry Gardens. Both Robin (workshop colleague) and I are very much looking forward to it.

KT Miniatures's little helper asleep on the job, putting instruction files together!
If you are coming on Sunday, please note that the Waterperry complex does not open to the public until 10.00am and you are welcome to come along to the classroom from 10.15 onwards, for a prompt 10.30 start. Ms H's Tearoom opens at 10.00 so we strongly suggest you have a coffee (and maybe a cream cake) to keep you going before you start!

If you are interested in our workshops....please go to our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops website for details of our autumn event.....at the moment we still have plenty of spaces as booking has only just opened

1930s Tin Pram

On the Antique 1/12th Nursery Page, I have listed a gorgeous brightly coloured 1930s tin pram. This one is in excellent condition.....with only one or two minor scratches on the paintwork. It appears to have been well looked after and one can just imagine all those generations of little owners pushing their miniature dollies around the house.....bet they had hours of fun!

Amongst the few old items that I've been able to list these past couple of days are one or two old pieces on the Antique 1/12th Living/Dining Room Page....including a German 1930s Radiogram/Cupboard, old three piece suite and this gorgeous little German chair with a wonderful fretwork chair back. Could be useful in a variety of rooms.
I have two gorgeous dolls houses waiting to be listed...so watch this space!

I have finally finished the stock take from last Saturday's Thame Fair and today have embarked on listing all unsold handmade stock to KT Miniatures' Exclusive Items pages. All these items have been created to look old or "much loved" so can be used in both vintage and reproduction dolls houses.
But first up....am thrilled to tell you that our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops have had a bit of a write up in the April Issue of Dolls House & Miniatures Scene magazine...pages 60-61. And what a splendid write up it is too....the photos have come out beautifully!!!

This is also a timely reminder for anyone still pondering on whether to come to our

Can We Tempt You?

Although our next workshop is not until Sunday April 7th.....work is well and truly in progress on the prototype.

The hardest part of each workshop is the actual working out of exactly how to go about constructing the components in the most productive way for each attendee. Much effort and thought is put into this aspect so that everyone attending our workshops can confidently undertake each project.
Is coming along nicely!

is a completely original, quite feminine and nostalgic project - a vintage arbour with climbers, unique landscaping complete with vintage style and well weathered garden furniture. There will be further accessories etc. but at least you can see from the photos, the gist of the project. This can stand alone, used with any of the previous workshop garden projects or butted up against a dolls house.....yes, even a vintage dolls house!!
CAN WE TEMPT YOU?
We  have a handful of places now remaining for this all day event which is taking place in the classroom block at the stunning setting of  Waterperry Gardens in Oxfordshire, worth a day out in it's own right. All our projects are suitable for both complete beginners and the more experienced miniaturists alike; you can work at your own pace in a relaxed and informal environment.
Please get in touch asap if you need further information.
However, full details of this workshop, along with a downloadable booking form can be found on the promotional page-please click on the following link:

Lots of examples of our previous workshop projects can be seen on our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops website:

A Mini Snowman Of A Different Kind!
Like most of the UK on Friday, we had snow. It is a well known fact that usually with us Brits, a mere sprinkle of snow, everything stops!! However actually,  this was a bit more than a dusting. By midday Friday, daughter's school was closed and son's office had closed so we had an unexpected house full. In an attempt to lure Mrs KT Miniatures away from her phone and computer which was exceptionally busy that particular day ( I wonder why-she says with a twinkle), it was suggested that we have a rare family outing on foot, up to the town. So, we dug out our wellies, hats, gloves and winter woollies....and off we trekked.  There is something very therapeutic about chucking snowballs at one's offspring-don't you think?!

Many of the businesses and shops predictably had closed early but we were enticed into one of our wonderful Thame pubs/restaurants with a lovely aroma. Resulting in us all having hot chocolate topped with marshmallows whilst thawing next to a roaring log fire...absolute bliss!

When we came out, one of the staff had knocked up this impromptu mini snowman with the aid of a saucepan, embellished with plastic drink stirrers and carrot for his facial features.....topped with a mug "hat"......haha!

Even though more snow is forecast for today, hopefully I will be able to post the now backlog of orders tomorrow-as I was not able to dispatch any parcels on Friday.

Booking Now Open For Our April 2013 Workshop At Waterperry Gardens

Following on from the last posting concerning our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops....I know it sounds crazy talking about a workshop that is not taking place until 7th April 2013 but  am pleased to announce that we have just opened booking on our very special all day workshop, that is being held once more at the prestigious Waterperry Gardens in Oxfordshire. This exclusive workshop project is called....
UNDERNEATH THE OLD ARBOUR

Think oodles of character, think old fashioned....think nostalgic!

It will be taking place in the classroom block at Waterperry Gardens in Oxfordshire. We will be making a vintage miniature scene to include an old arbour (of course) clothed in climbing plants, a wooden chair, stool and table with accessories. Simple landscaping can be enhanced by some individual touches....in our typical Nostalgia In Miniature Workshop style!! It will be great fun and an absolutely unique project, offered as always in both 1/12th and 1/24th scale. Suitable for beginners and the more experienced miniaturists alike.....you will be assured of a very warm welcome. We pride ourselves in that our workshops are friendly, informal and relaxed.

If you participated in one of our 2011/2012 projects from the "Little Garden Series" of workshops then this project will have a base of the same dimension as those and would complement them perfectly. However, even if you have never even been to one of our workshops before this project would also look amazing standing alone or butted up against a reproduction or even vintage dolls house.

Waterperry Gardens is an amazing venue in itself with wonderful gardens, garden centre, gallery, gift shop, old church, musuem etc......plus a lovely tea room. Well worth a visit in its own right.
