Our Very Special Miniature WW1 Scene.....At Last Revealed!

At long last I'm delighted to be able to reveal the latest commissioned project jointly undertaken with my workshop colleague and great old mate - Robin Britton, for the
DOLLS HOUSE & MINIATURE SCENE MAGAZINE

A First World War Officer's Derelict Dugout, Trench & Poppy Field

What a project this has been.....many hours have been spent on research for this and many more hours on actually creating it! But we are very pleased and proud of the result, on what is an emotive subject. We have endeavoured to respectively focus on the poignancy and remembrance of war.
This will be shown as a "how to make" project in the magazine, starting with the August 2014 issue and we understand it will probably run over into the September issue too....as it is a massive project! (The August issue comes out on June 26th).
As with all our WORKSHOP PROJECTS, we have used ordinary everyday materials as well as natural materials from our gardens in the creation of this....in fact you will be amazed and maybe a little surprised at some of the materials used!

So now here it is.....as a video, complete with old soldier!

This video  is best viewed with speakers on and full screen.

In order to read the story behind this little scene and full instructions on how to make it, please see the August 2014 issue of the Dolls House & Miniature Scene Magazine.

We are very proud to say that this finished project will be on display in the THAME MUSEUM (Oxfordshire) as part of their WW1 Centenary Exhibition which runs from May 3rd to August 20th.

A Little Video.....Of A Very Little Project!

As you will have seen on my last KT Miniatures Journal posting  yesterday, Robin Britton and I have spent weeks creating a little Victorian Seaside Scene as a how to make project for the August issue of the Dolls House & Miniatures Scene magazine (www.dollshousemag.co.uk).

Just for a bit of fun, we have created a little video showing brief shapshots of stages from beginning to end of the creation of the project and to Florrie's first tentative dip in the sea! Hope you enjoy it and find it inspiring!

As mentioned in the earlier posting, the landscaped base is now up for sale and 50%  of the proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Campaign. For full details on how to purchase the landscaped scene and various components such as the bathing machine, Punch & Judy etc. can be found on the promotional page on our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops website:

Our Unique Victorian Seaside Scene Can Now Be Seen In August Issue Of Dolls House & Miniature Scene Magazine

I'm delighted to announce that the Victorian Seaside Scene that Robin Britton (my Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops colleague) and I have been working hard on for weeks, can now be seen in the August issue of Dolls House & Miniature Scene Magazine.

It was great fun to do...and as with all our projects, we undertook much research so that it could be created as realistically and accurately as possible. On top of all of that, we had to design it in such a way in order to make it easy for the readers of the magazine to create themselves, as this has been presented as a "how to make" project in the August Issue of Dolls House & Miniature Scene magazine.

This landscaped base plus fixtures as seen below is now being offered for sale and 50% of proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Campaign.
In our own instantly recognisable "Nostalgia In Miniature Workshop" style, we have created a realistic and highly detailed two-tiered Victorian seaside setting with an element of fun. It incorporates a naturalistic beach, backed by an old and weathered sea wall with upper brick paved promenade edged by a distinctive and authentic Victorian style set of railings. To complete the promenade, there is of course a gas street lamp.

A special feature of our landscaping is the sea battered and aged wooden groyne, along with it's very own seagull!!Our unique seawater in the foreground really adds to the realistic ambience of the whole setting and we couldn't resist adding a little rock pool with it's own starfish!!

Other Components Available To Purchase Separately
The Victorian bathing machine, Punch & Judy and all three of Robin's dolls that were made for this scene are also being offered for sale, but separately and are not part of the charity offer.

For full details please see the Seaside Scene Promotional page on our Nostalgia In Miniature Workshops website.
